What We Do At Weddings

We have a wealth of experience playing live music at public and private events across the UK and internationally. Here is a summary of our basic and upgradable service options for weddings, corporate events and private parties and a brief overview of what we'll do on the day of your event.


Standard Wedding Services

Our standard service includes all the essentials you'll need for an amazing party. It's designed to minimise costs by including everything you'll need for a 'normal' size wedding.

  • Arrive at the venue at 6pm, be set up by 7.30pm
  • 2 x 60 mins live party music
  • Perform a first dance request from our repertoire OR DJ a first dance song if not in our repertoire
  • Background tunes before, between and after live sets
  • Very high quality PA & lights for 500 people


Additional Upgrade Options for Weddings

We also offer the following additional upgrade options:

  • Post-midnight finish
  • Pre-5pm arrival
  • DJ service (manned by band member)
  • Extra 1 x 60 mintues of live party music
  • Extra 1 hour acoustic set
  • Extra band members available
  • We'll learn 5 new songs that aren't in our repertoire
  • Upgrade PA & lights for 500 more guests

Questions or Concerns 

Once you’ve decided we’re the right band for you, you can rest assured that your entertainment is in good hands. We’ll be in touch around 3 weeks before the big day to finalise the details, timings, song choices and any other queries you may have. In the run up to your event, you’ll have a dedicated event coordinator from our agency Alive Network who will be more than happy to liaise with you on any issues, questions or concerns.

What We'll Do At Your Wedding

Arrival, set up and soundcheck

A standard wedding gig for Academy starts with our prompt arrival at your venue (usually 5 or 6pm). We load in our equipment, set up and sound check as quickly and discreetly as possible. This usually takes us around 60 minutes.

After set up

After we’ve set up and sound checked we will put background music on through our PA system and go to change into our stage clothes. You will need to arrange for the venue to provide us with a secure changing room (not the toilets), and your catering to provide us with a hot meal and soft drinks/tea/coffee. This is standard for all wedding bookings for any band. If we can't eat before the first set (EG: the event is behind schedule and we need to perform right away) - then we'll eat during our first break.

1st dance & 1st live set

Due to schedules often slipping out on the day, we will liaise with you or the event manager at your venue to confirm the timing of your first dance. We will be ready to DJ your chosen track or perform it if possible (if arranged in advance).

After our first live set, we'll take a break (usually around 45 minutes) and for weddings, this is the ideal time to serve the buffet. During this time we'll leave a play list of carefully chosen music running in the background through our PA system. If you choose our DJ upgrade option, a member of the band will run the DJ rig and be on hand to take requests and make announcements.

2nd live set & end of the night

After our second live performance, if we have finished before midnight, we will provide background music until midnight (unless you've selected a later finish upgrade). Only after our official contracted finish time will we pack our equipment down. We will do this as quickly and discretely as possible - which usually takes around 1 hour.
